The US-based technology company Apple on Wednesday launched its 2nd generation HomePod smart speaker, which offers better sound quality, voice automation through Siri assistant and a smarter, safer home.

The new HomePod features advanced audio processing and audio track support, adapting it to the interior.

The speaker also allows users to create smart home automation using the Siri assistant and set up alerts when smoke or carbon monoxide is detected in the home. HomePod also lets you check the temperature and humidity in a room, all with hands-free technology.

“The new HomePod leverages our audio expertise and innovation to deliver rich, deep bass, natural mids, and clear, detailed highs,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, via press release.

“With the popularity of HomePod mini, we’ve seen a growing interest in even better acoustics achievable in a larger HomePod.”

The new HomePod also supports the Matter standard, which allows smart home products to work in different ecosystems for customers using different brands.

Customers can order the new HomePod online this Wednesday and also through the Apple Store app for $299. The speaker will be available from February 3rd.
