Andrew on TV, Verissimo, recently revealed: “My mum had a stroke two and a half months ago. She lived and worked in America and when I got the call at 2am I was with friends and didn’t want to tell anyone. The next day I left for Los Angeles immediately. It was very difficult to see her like that, for me she was an invincible woman. Now I brought her back to Italy and today she is better.”

Howe is shown next to her in a photo shared on social media, supporting his mother who is using a crutch to help herself walk. “Dear mom, today is finally a sunny day for us and the long-awaited news from the doctors has arrived. You are back with us after months of worry and anxiety over what happened to you in Los Angeles more than 3 months ago‘ he wrote in a lengthy post.

“I still remember that night when I got the call from your friend warning me about it you had a stroke. At that moment my life stopped because I was in Italy and you were there alone, far from your loved ones – continues the athlete – At 02.43 Italian time I was desperately looking for a flight to be able to reach you. As I left, thoughts and memories came over me that made me relive my entire childhood and my brother’s like a movie. I remember your smile and your love for your family and the thousands of sacrifices you have made throughout your life and most importantly your teachings to never give up.”

He then adds sweet words to the parents and the two promises made: “I have to thank you, not only for how you raised us, but for the man I’ve become in life and in sport. The day I arrived in Los Angeles and saw you helpless in that hospital bed, your words came to mind: “Andrew, don’t give up.” Then in my heart I promised myself that if I had come out of this situation unscathed, I would have done two things that are so important to you: To help you get back to dancing which is your passion and to dedicate the last competition of my career to you to celebrate your recovery and to thank you for everything you have done for me and my brother.

Andre concludes: “In addition to my thanks, dear mother, I would like to thank all the people who have shown me their love and encouragement over the years. I would like to thank everyone who was close to us, especially in difficult times.”
