An accident at an amusement park injures 31 in Germany

Despite the accident, it initially continued to open its doors to the public before closing them amid controversy that erupted. When two roller coaster trains crashed at the Legoland amusement park in Germany, 31 people were injured, including one seriously, according to the Bavarian police on Thursday.

Two small trains carrying up to 20 people collided when the first train stopped and the second “for unknown reasons” did not brake sufficiently and rammed it, police said in a press release. The rescue operations were particularly difficult for the emergency services due to the difficult access to the injured persons high up on the tracks. The course measures 800 m and climbs up to 16 m high.

The train can reach a speed of 60 km/h, but was a priori traveling at a much lower speed at the time of impact. According to the same source, ten children, a teenager and a 20-year-old were among the injured. A total of 16 people had to be hospitalized, and no information was given on the condition of the seriously injured. According to local media, almost 160 rescuers were mobilized.

A fatal accident in another German park

The accident happened early Thursday afternoon at the Legoland amusement park in Günzburg, Bavaria. With its 64 attractions, including the “Achterbahn” carousel for the adventurous, it is one of the most famous in Germany.

Last Saturday there was another fatal accident during a roller coaster ride in an amusement park in Klotten, Rhineland-Palatinate. A 57-year-old woman fell from the ride and died from her injuries.
