American MP of Brazilian descent stole $3,000 that would save a dog’s life

The life of George Santos, MP for the Republican Party of Brazilian descent, remains under investigation after it was confirmed that he lied in the biography used in the campaign as New York State MP in last year’s general election.

The latest controversy surfaced on Tuesday (17th) after a patch portal report. US Navy veteran Richard Osthoff revealed that Santos stole more than $3,000 in 2016 to pay for the removal of a tumor in the stomach of Sapphire, his female pit bull.

Osthoff says a veterinarian took pity on his situation and referred Friends of Pets United to help him raise the necessary amount and save the animal’s life.

Responsible for the project was Santos, who used the name Anthony Devolder at the time. Osthoff claims that the necessary sum was raised for the faithful companion’s operation, but that the Brazilian deleted the campaign from the donation platform and disappeared with all the money.

The veteran suffers from severe posttraumatic stress disorder and is on a US government pension. However, the amount he receives was not enough to pay for the procedure. Without surgery, Sapphire was unable to resist and died months after the coup.

The lack of money was so great that the dog’s owner could not afford Sapphira’s cremation or funeral. “I had to beg,” complains Osthoff. “It was one of the most humiliating things I’ve ever had to do.”
