Variety was the first to report the 1960s and ’70s musician’s death, citing a statement by his wife Jan Dance that he was suffering from a “long illness”. Rolling Stone magazine confirmed the news, citing a source close to the artist.

“It is with great sadness that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away after a long illness,” Crosby’s wife Jan Dance said in a statement. He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soul mate Jan and their son Django. He is no longer with us “We will continue to be guided and inspired by his humanity and kind soul. His legacy will live on through his legendary music. Peace, love and harmony to all who knew David and to whom he touched. He will be greatly missed. At the same time, we respectfully and graciously ask for privacy as we grieve and try to come to terms with our profound loss. Thank you for your love and prayers.”
