Juan Carlos La Verde, firefighter and paramedic in Oldsmar (Florida, USA), experienced drama: an alligator (American alligator) about 3.5 meters tall snapped its head.

He was swimming in Lake Thonotosassa, just outside of Tampa, on Aug. 3 when the alligator swam right over him and began attacking, according to WFTS Tampa News.

The American swam in the lake to film an educational video for his company, Defeat X.

Defeat X “focuses on helping others overcome their personal struggles through healthy exercise and outdoor adventures,” according to the description on the GoFundMe page his friends and wife Christine created for him after the attack.

Juan Carlos claimed to believe that the alligator only released him because he somehow made it confused.

“I immediately tried to open his jaws because I knew I had his head in an alligator’s mouth,” the victim recalled. “As soon as I felt the teeth, I knew right away that I was either turning him over or he was turning me over, but the alligator was confused, just as I was confused, and then he just let go of me.”reported.

The American said the alligator gave just one big bite. Freed from the predator, Juan Carlos swam to a nearby dock and called for help, WFLA 8 reported.

Juan Carlos underwent one Operation that lasted six hours. The firefighter was under observation in the hospital for ten days. alligator teeth are full of bacteria. Bites often cause infection. But the American recovered well and was released.

“I felt the jaw, the teeth. I didn’t know what to do. So I reacted immediately and hit him a few times. Then I finally had enough strength to open his jaw a little.”said James Barney Jr.
