Ambra Angiolini returns to Stromboli to help residents clear the mud

She returned to help the islanders, who were still busy freeing the houses where the mud had entered after the August 12 depth charge. Two months later, Ambra Angiolini returns to Stromboli. Most recently, she was on the island at the end of May for the filming of the fictional civil defense. And it was precisely on the set of the fiction that the gigantic fire developed that destroyed hectares of Mediterranean maquis and scarred one of the pearls of the Aeolian Islands. As the islanders had predicted, this fire would not only devastate the island but also increase the risks from a hydrogeological point of view. And just in time for the storm of August 12, the consequences became apparent.

Within minutes, a river of water and mud poured into the island’s homes and streets, which are now slowly rising again. Even if you’re still shoveling. And apparently Amber wants to help too. On Saturday morning, the actress, protagonist of the TV series, landed along with two components of the production. In particular, she was seen and photographed in the Piscita district, busy cleaning up the rubble of a friend’s house. Amber declined to comment and it is unknown how long she will be on the island. “I came to help,” she limited herself to telling those she met.

Lipari Mayor Riccardo Gullo believes the most critical phase is over. “In Stromboli – he says – we are slowly moving towards normalization. We have cleared the streets of the mud, now we are intervening with concrete plans to clear the houses of debris ». According to an initial estimate, the damage caused by the fire and subsequent flood would be at least 10 million. “I hope that they will be released soon – says Gullo – then we have to face another problem: the structural work that is necessary so that such an episode never happens again.”
