Amanda Seyfried has revealed that in the pre-#MeToo era, she was put in awkward positions on film sets, including having to walk around “without her underwear.”
The 36-year-old star shared that she kind of wishes she could start as a young actress now, at a time when intimacy coordinators are a regular presence on sets and actors are in a better position to speak out.
Speaking to NET-A-PORTER about her early career, Amanda said: “Walking around at 19 without my underwear – like, are you kidding me?

“How could I let that happen? Oh, I know why: I was 19 and didn’t want to upset anyone, and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.’
The actress, who recently starred as Elizabeth Holmes on the Hulu series The Dropout, said it’s “really important” for actors to be confident on set.
She said: “Nothing can completely crush me when it comes to work. I am unbreakable! Nothing can destroy my life unless it has to do with my family.
“Of course being a parent changes the way you look at things, but it’s not just that. It’s finally getting to the point where it’s okay to be proud of your work. It’s okay to be proud, it’s okay to have confidence – it’s really, really important.”

She said: “I’ve never gone a day that I didn’t feel like I’ve worked really hard. I have no claim. I mean, I’m entitled to respect, I think; we are all.
“But I have no entitlement issues. I have a lot of good luck and a lot of hard work and a lot of being in the right place at the right time. I understand all that.’
Amanda’s portrayal of the disgraced founder of the now-liquidated healthcare company Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes, was a character actress she’d never acted with before in her career, and left her wanting more.

Speaking of her Emmy nomination for Lead Actress, she said, “It’s kind of surreal that we’re here now, that we’ve been nominated and I’ve been nominated; I was singled out.
“I’ve spent no part of my career ever being singled out. [I had] no expectation of being singled out, and that’s partly due to my self-deprecating nature.
‘Never expect anything big, prepare for the worst, just keep going my way.’
Uncanny resemblance: In addition to Holmes’ signature baritone voice, the actress said that achieving the looks of the disgraced Theranos founder was also a crucial part of her transformation into The Dropout
Speaking of collaborating with show creator Elizabeth Meriwether, Amanda added, “With the help of an incredible group of writers, she wrote the perfect series.
“There’s not a single beat in there that feels like it doesn’t fit. It’s a marvel, this script, and the direction and tone of it really worked.
She said, “I think it was really important, the tone, to make it feel real.”
