An alleged wandering wolf led to calls to the Berlin police. The situation center announced today that several people observed the animal in Berlin-Spandau and informed the police. Colleagues also saw the animal and took photos and videos, a spokesman said. The “Berliner Zeitung” had previously reported. According to the Environmental Administration of the Berlin Senate, it was just a wolf-like dog.
A spokesperson for the authorities corrected initial reports that it was likely a young male wolf from the Döberitzer Heide. An expert hired by the Senate Environmental Secretariat examined other images and reached a different conclusion. In addition, informed the owner of the dog, said the spokesperson.
A wolf pack settled west of Berlin on the Döberitzer Heide in 2021. Initially, two parent animals and four cubs were sighted on the site, in May 2022 the Heinz Sielmannn Foundation took over a total of eight wolves on the site.
