According to a police report the couple filed in 1995, the tape was in a safe in their home alongside weapons — an AK-47, an FNC assault rifle, a .45-70 caliber and a Mossberg stainless steel shotgun, and a Rolex , a gold-and-diamond Cartier watch, and the white bikini Anderson wore to her wedding.

The entire safe was stolen in October 1995 by electrician Rand Gauthier, who had been fired by the couple and believed they owed him money. He was played in the film by comedian Seth Rogen.

Gauthier says he rolled her 6ft x 3ft x 4ft safe out of her garage, which was strapped to a cart in the middle of the night after it bypassed her security system.

He had no idea of its contents until he opened it, and later recalled thinking, “We’ll put it in (the video machine) and see what it is, and of course cha-ching!” The dollar signs fly before our eyes. But we’re going, that’s the kind of thing people get killed for.’
