Alerting on Lebanon’s southern border continues due to Israeli maneuvers

Beirut, January 19 (Prensa Latina) For the second straight day, the southern border is witnessing a state of alert between the Lebanese Army and the Israeli Defense Forces in connection with their maneuvers outside the Blue Line today.

Israeli bulldozers continue construction work behind the barbed wire fence, violating the perimeter set by the United Nations in some places in the occupied Al-Mutalla settlement.

According to a correspondent for local channel Al Manar Ali Shoeib, additional reinforcements from the United Nations Interim Force (Unifil) arrived at the city’s borders to separate the Lebanese army from Tel Aviv’s forces.

In this regard, the Israeli army increased its presence in the area with a Merkava tank and more armored vehicles, as evidenced by the images shared by the reporter on Twitter.

At the same time, the Lebanese command prevented another breach of the Blue Line by the Zionist force at a second point north of the town of Al-Mutalla.

The Lebanese army set up tents near the Israeli bulldozer at the border of the settlement yesterday to prevent enemy work during the night.

Israel continues operations near the technical border fence and on Tuesday Merkava vehicles maneuvered outside the Blue Line between the southern city of Abbassiyeh and occupied Shebaa Farms for two hours before being transported by locomotive to the occupied Golan.

Despite the expulsion of its army from Lebanon in May 2000, Tel Aviv still owns the lands of the Shebaa farms and the Kafar Chuba hills, as well as the northern part of the Ghajar area.

Both countries have been in a war situation since the establishment of the State of Israel in the Land of Palestine and during these years many crimes and attacks remain in the minds of the people of Lebanon of the Litani River and the oil given Tel Aviv’s ambitions to conquer the water – and gas wealth.

Since 1978, the UNIFIL contingent has been set up in Lebanon to confirm Israel’s withdrawal from the south and restore peace.

In accordance with Resolution 1701 of August 11, 2006, the international command oversees the cessation of hostilities and assists the Lebanese government in securing its borders and other points to prevent the entry of weapons or similar material without its consent.
