Alec Baldwin says he’s concerned for his own safety after Donald Trump’s comments on ‘rust’ shooting

Alec Baldwin told CNN he was concerned for his own safety after former President Donald Trump made comments on the set of Rust after the filming.

Shortly after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed on the set of the film Rust, Trump blamed Baldwin. During a rehearsal, the actor was pointing his gun at Hutchins when she fired.

Baldwin told CNN in an interview that aired Friday: “The former President of the United States said he probably shot her on purpose. Me, [that was] the only time I thought about it… that I worried about what was going to happen to me. Because here was Trump directing people to commit acts of violence and he was pointing the finger at me and saying I was responsible for the death. I’m one thousand percent nervous that a bunch of people who were ordered by the former President to go to the Capitol and killed a police officer. You killed someone. And you don’t think to me that some of these people are going to come and kill me.”

Trump slammed Baldwin for impersonating him on Saturday Night Live.

Baldwin has said that he pulled the gun’s hammer back but did not pull the trigger.

Last week, the FBI’s forensic report concluded that the gun used in the accident could not have been fired without pulling the trigger. The public prosecutor’s office has not yet decided on charges.

But his attorney told CNN that Baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun and that it would be a “gross miscarriage of justice” to charge him.

Baldwin told CNN that he hired a private investigator after the shooting.

“As you probably know, this private investigator had no trouble gaining access to the sheriff’s department staff. And this person told us, ‘We’ve known in the department since January that Alec isn’t being charged with a crime.'”
