Jean-François Houle’s men got off to a strong start, eclipsing Senators goalkeeper Antoine Bibeau three times.

Mattias Norlinder, Madison Bowey and Joël Teasdale scored for Laval.

The Laval side held a two-goal lead halfway through the game before the Senators leveled the game thanks to Jake Lucchini, who delivered a two-goal, four-point game. The Trail, British Columbia forward was a hero in overtime.

Brandon Gignac also added his name to the goalscoring charts by scoring his eighth goal of the season in the second half. Number 37 recovered defender Tory Dello’s throw back.

The Rocket’s powerplay had all sorts of issues as they failed to convert six chances.

This meeting marked goaltender Philippe Desrosiers’ entry into the Canadian School Club scene. The former Rimouski Océanic gave up five of his 29 shots.

The two teams meet in Belleville on Monday.
