Rodrigo Faro has reached an agreement with Record and, after lengthy negotiations, has extended his contract with the broadcaster. To accept the new commitment, the presenter had to accept a salary cut imposed by the channel on Edir Macedo, who is trying to balance his finances.

The news of the renewal of the bond was announced by Metrópoles and confirmed by Well Telinha with Record, which Faro has been dealing with for 15 years. Late last year, the report reported that the company was making a “reassessment of operational target” and enforcing some cost cuts to reach some profitability in 2023.
One of the channel’s goals was the celebrity’s super salary, which reached BRL 1.2 million per month. In the channel’s first proposal, Faro’s salaries would be cut to R$300,000 per month, worsening the climate between the parties.

Rodrigo Faro felt discredited by the current house since Record Faustão proposed to leave the band and take over the channel’s Sundays for a salary of R$ 1 million, an amount much higher than what Vera Viel’s husband was getting was previously offered.

Rodrigo Faro’s contract with Record would expire on December 31, 2022, but the old bond had already been postponed by a month, bringing the expiry date forward to January 31. The addendum was made to allow for the completion of some unreleased programs that have already been recorded, in addition to allowing him to receive previously produced merch promotions while not deciding whether or not to renew with the current house.

Negotiations stalled in December and behind the scenes at Edir Macedo’s station, Faro’s departure was already being taken for granted. That’s because the celebrity was adamant about his own salary and signing a new commitment seemed further away every day.
However, after much discussion, the parties reached a middle ground and Faro was to receive R$ 600,000 as well as participation in merchandising promotions. With that part overcome, Record must now define the future of recording the Hora do Faro program, which can take place in an outsourced studio to save costs.
