As is regularly the case on every Florida coast, the American political scenario is creating the perfect storm that could shake society to its roots with unprecedented ferocity. The results of these hours’ primary elections, beginning with Liz Cheney’s defeat in the race for the Wyoming seat, in which she was overpowered by pro-Trump opponent Harriet Hageman, confirm the ongoing reckoning around the figure of the former president, increasingly likely Republican nominee in the 2024 White House race. Who betrayed — 8 of the 10 Republicans who gave the green light to the impeachment attempt — who didn’t take an oath of allegiance, who, like Cheney, took on the role of Trump’s inquisitor on the commission that attempts to play his part in the events of January 6, 2021 – is swept away by the propaganda frenzy of the Trump factory, which is back in full swing: it’s “with Trump” or “against him,” no half measures and at the price of prematurely closing the political path.
