The strategy going into this Friday’s AEW Rampage appears to be to lean heavily on the idea that Andrade El Idolo could actually leave the company.
As mentioned, Andrade will wrestle against Preston Vance from The Dark Order and the stipulation is that Vance must unmask if he loses and Andrade must leave AEW if he loses.
It may seem obvious to many fans that Andrade will win the match, but it’s worth reiterating that this episode of Rampage is being promoted as the 2 year anniversary of Brodie Lee’s last match, so theoretically Vance should win.
Tony Khan is reportedly not granting releases, but Andrade has expressed unhappiness at not being featured as often as he expected and there have been rumors that he was one of the names WWE addressed turned. So it’s possible that Khan will grant him a release as long as he gets the job done at Rampage. We’ll see if that turns out to be the case in the end.

Next week we’ll show the world what Friends In Dark Places is all about. If you don’t want to be here, fuck off. That’s cowboy shit. #AEW #DarkOrder #X #HandPicked #FriendsInDarkPlaces #CowboySh*t #AEWDynamite #AEWRampage
