Francesco Cilea’s masterpiece, produced by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna together with Rai Cultura: it is the film opera “Adriana Lecouvreur” signed by Rosetta Cucchi, which will be broadcast on Rai 5 on Wednesday 31 August at 9.15 p.m., directed by Arnalda Canali . On the podium Asher Fisch, while the protagonist is interpreted by the soprano Kristine Opolais, one of the most controversial stars of the most important theaters on the international scene. Together with her Luciano Ganci in the role of Maurizio, Veronica Simeoni in the role of the Princess de Bouillon and Nicola Alaimo in the role of Michonnet. The vocal cast is completed by Romano Dal Zovo (Prince de Bouillon), Gianluca Sorrentino (The Abbot of Chazeuil), Elena Borin (Mad.lla Jouvenot), Aloisa Aisemberg (Mad.lla Dangeville), Luca Gallo (Quinault) and Stefano Consolini ( poison).
Adriana Lecouvreur premiered at the Teatro Lirico in Milan on November 6, 1902; Cilea and librettist Arturo Colautti drew the opera’s theme from the drama Adrienne Lecouvreur by Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé, who in turn drew inspiration from the historical figure Adrienne Couvreur, the famous French theater actress who revolutionized fashion in the 18th century of acting through the exploration of a more natural expressiveness. The masterpiece that made Cilea one of the most important composers of the Italian scene at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries was absent from the program of the Comunale of Bologna for twenty-eight years and is proposed for this film opera version in the new production with signed sets , costumes and lights by Tiziano Santi, Claudia Pernigotti and Daniele Naldi, with the choreography by Luisa Baldinetti, who is also present as a dancer, and the videos by Roberto Recchia.
