Aaron Rodgers could play somewhere other than Green Bay

The offseason has not yet begun in the NFL and the future of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is already in the air.

On Tuesday, the holder of four Goodell Tour MVP awards opened the door to a team change during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“I think I can win another MVP award if I’m in the right situation. Is it in Green Bay or somewhere else? I’m not sure. But I don’t think I should close my doors,” said the 39-year-old athlete.

For the past two offseasons, Rodgers’ future and the Packers’ contract situation has been a hot topic of rumors. In 2022, however, he signed a three-year contract extension that included a $101.4 million guarantee.

The veteran is expected to have a $31.6 million impact on the Wisconsin club’s payroll next year.

“Both sides have to really want to work together to move forward,” Rodgers said. I think we need to have more conversations. I don’t think any player wants to be part of any kind of rebuild.”

The Packers missed the 2022 playoffs 8-9. They could have entered the postseason with a win over the Detroit Lions in the final week of activity. However, they lowered the flag from 20 to 16.

Two of Rodgers’ very good friends could also leave the Green Bay formation. Indeed, tight end Marcedes Lewis and wide receiver Randall Cobb could be testing the free-agent market.

“This sport is about relationships,” Rodgers said. You have to be able to rely on your boys, even if they’re not high in the statistics. A guy like Marcedes Lewis is an important cog in our dressing room and brings momentum to the team. He’s a guy I want to end my career with. I want to see Randall Cobbs again if he wants to keep playing in my dressing room.”
