A show by Marie Chouinard censored by Facebook

Montreal contemporary dance company Marie Chouinard is censored by Facebook and Instagram.

The promotional photos and videos for his show “M” have been removed from Danse Danse’s social media channels for violating Meta’s nudity rules, which control Facebook and Instagram.

The trailer for the show shows the dancers shirtless. For Meta, this violates its policy on nudity and sexual activity.

In a press release, Danse Danse questions the ability to promote performing arts and dance on social media and bemoans what it considers censorship.

However, it is possible to watch the trailer on YouTube.

Show M will be on from January 31st to February 4th at the Théâtre Maisonneuve des Place des Arts.
