A promising preseason for the Bears

Giving their supporters hope for a return to a winning record and the playoffs, the Chicago Bears have easily won a second exhibition meeting on as many occasions, this time against the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 27-11 Thursday at Lumen Field.

A few days after defeating the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bears showed the same confidence in today’s game. Remember that in 2021 they set the fourth-worst record in the National, a 6-11 record.

The Seahawks met visiting defenses in the first half and scored no points on the board.

On the other side of the field, Jake Tonges scored the first major of the game with a short two-yard throw. Then, at the very end of the second quarter, the hosts fumbled the ball very close to their end zone on a kickoff return. Safety Elijah Hicks jumped at his chance and extended his team’s lead with a full-length jump.

Darwin Thompson scored the Seahawks’ only touchdown. He made an eight-yard run in a lost cause about two minutes before hostilities ended.

Young quarterback Justin Fields, who was briefly sent into the fray, was efficient for the Bears, hitting the target for 39 yards on five of his seven attempts.
