The one who hit a Major League Soccer (MLS) mark with 31 goals in the 2018 season immediately signed a contract with the Florida organization, which will enter its fourth season in 2023.

The 29-year-old joined Atlanta in February 2017 and the following year became the first man in Garber Tour history to receive MVP honors in the same All-Star Game and at the end of the regular schedule.

He scored 111 goals in all competitions for Georgia.

“Josef played a key role in Atlanta United history, scoring memorable goals and winning multiple trophies for moments that our fans will remember,” said the club’s technical director Carlos Bocanegra in a press release. He was part of the foundation that helped us establish our brand as we know it today.”

Martinez suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in the 2020 season opener and returned to action the following year, scoring 12 goals in 24 games.

He was absent from activity for about two months last year due to a knee arthroscopy in April. He finished with nine goals in 26 duels on the clock.
