Recap of the CES 2023 show with Mathieu Roy

A look back at CES 2023 with Mathieu Roy

The beginning of the year was again dominated by the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. Techno columnist Mathieu Roy was there to cover this big event.

Upon his return, he was invited by hosts Antoine Joubert and Germain Goyer to the program “Guide de l’auto” on QUB Radio to discuss the most important revelations related to the automobile.

A first electric Ram pickup

While Ford has been marketing the F-150 Lightning for a few months and we’ve already seen the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV, Ram has caught up and used CES to unveil its first electric pickup truck.

“We have unveiled a prototype electric pickup that we will see come to market one day: the Ram 1500 Revolution. Among the innovative technologies that it includes, it is worth mentioning the presence of a projector, for example to project a plan on a wall. The vehicle can also follow its owner, much like a dog would,” says Mathieu Roy.

An electric sedan for Volkswagen

As part of this unmissable event for tech enthusiasts, Volkswagen has unveiled part of its electrification plan by unveiling a camouflaged version of the ID.7.

“To give the listeners a picture, in a way we can say that it is an electric Passat. We quoted a range of 700 kilometers by European standards, which is actually 550 kilometers. Inside is a 15-inch screen that’s nothing short of magical. We’ve seen screens of it and we’ll see it again,” shares Mathieu Roy.

A Sony car?

While Sony has shown a concept car in the past, the tech giant has unveiled a revamped and improved version of it.

“We announced that we can pre-order in 2025 and have the car delivered in 2026. It’s called Afeela and was developed jointly by Honda and Sony. There are around 45 sensors around this electric vehicle,” says Mathieu Roy.

news of the week
