A burst of emotions in San Cataldo: 5,000 for the life of Sangiorgi LeccePrima

SAN CATALDO (Lecce) – A music party on the beach of San Cataldo: it was a sold out concert by the Alba Locomotive, the event organized in the Marina of Lecce saw Giuliano Sangiorgi, voice and frontman of the Negramano, perform in front of a crowd of 5,000 People flocked to experience an atmospheric moment that has now been repeated for several editions.

In fact, the event is the culmination of the “Locomotive Jazz Festival” under the artistic direction of the musician Raffaele Casarano.

On the stage of the Adriano Pier, Sangiorgi was accompanied by the festival’s patron, Raffaele Casarano, with Mirko Signorile on piano, Giorgio Vendola on double bass, Alessandro Monteduro on drums and Marco D’Orlando on drums with the Moka Family Big Banda.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert will be donated by Locomotive Impresa Sociale SRL towards the purchase of an instrument asset that will be donated to the rehabilitation of the San Cataldo Marina playground.

Success also for public transport, guaranteed by the activation of the S16 locomotive line, which accompanied paying passengers on the outward journey in 2004 (SGM ticket costs 1 euro for a single journey) to the Lecce marina, thanks to the use of 6 vehicles deployed in four shifts , which guaranteed passage every 15 minutes after 11pm and every half hour from 9pm to 11pm.

About half of the spectators of the concert reached San Cataldo by public transport, which minimized car traffic, which was absolutely sustainable despite the size of the event.

On the way back, according to the forecasts of the mobility plan drawn up by the Municipality and Sgm, 21 buses ready to depart towards Lecce were positioned on the SP 364, a choice that allowed an immediate outflow of the spectators present at the concert back towards the city and towards the Settelacquare motorway junctions and Mercato Bisettimanale. The remaining people were taken back from the vehicles of the regular operation of the S16 locomotive line. The number of passengers registered on return is more than 2 thousand.

“We are satisfied because the public transport service really affected the sustainability of the event, avoided the appearance of car queues, guaranteed greater safety and comfort for those who decided to move with a vehicle other than a private car – explains the City Council for sustainable mobility Marco De Matteis – I would like to thank all citizens, including many young and very young people, who have chosen to use the buses Thanks to their choice, Alba Locomotive has not only been a nice concert but also a positive experience from the point of view of mobility, where the offer of an efficient service met the full collaboration of the users I thank SGM, from the President to the Director, the drivers to the controllers who thanks to their work have made sure that everything is for the best ran”.

“It was a safe demonstration, where there were no spikes in car traffic, no accidents or safety criticism – explains the Councilor of the Local Police Sergio Signore – I thank the local police officers and the volunteers of the Civil Protection for the excellent work done and all citizens, who lived through this night with great common sense and without unnecessary excesses. It was also an unforgettable night from a safety point of view”.
