A British mother who boarded a plane from Hong Kong to the UK on Friday August 5 died in her sleep mid-flight. Helen Rhodes’ husband and their two children had to stay by their side until the emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, reports The Guardian. The victim was found unconscious before dying despite attempts at resuscitation.
“For the remaining 8 hours of the flight, Helen remained unconscious in her seat. Although it was extremely traumatic for the family, they were given all the time to tell him what they had to say,” said a friend of the deceased, who works for the UK daily newspaper was quoted.

A kitten to help the family
As protocol dictates, her body remained in Frankfurt while her husband and two children continued on a flight to the UK. To help them with the transfer of the body and funeral expenses, an online fund has been opened and more than 26,000 euros have already been raised.
This mother, who is a midwife by trade, lived with her family in Hong Kong for 15 years. They had decided to return and settle in the UK to be closer to their relatives, whom they had not seen since the pandemic began.
