A 50-year-old woman was found dead at her home in the Palmiste district of Le Lamentin on Sunday evening, August 14, 2022. A knife was also found at the scene by rescue workers who were alerted by neighbors. The latter had just gotten their hands on a suspected culprit in the victim’s garden.

A 54-year-old woman was found dead at her home in the Palmiste neighborhood of Le Lamentin on Sunday August 14, 2022.
It was neighbors who alerted police after vigorously arresting a man in the victim’s yard.
The alleged suspect in this murder was taken into custody in the evening. In particular, he must explain his presence at the crime scene and state his relationship to the deceased fifty-year-old.
In a press release dated August 15, the UFM (the Union of Women of Martinique) mourns the death, while acknowledging the responsibility of local elected politicians “in the face of increased violence” on the island.
As a first reaction, we want to express our deep emotion and disgust for this new shattered life that cannot explain anything. Once again we must not remain silent, and once again we must say resolutely and together: NO! Given the increasing violence in our country, what role does this violence against women play in our policy proposals? NONE !
