A 43-year-old woman was strangled, raped and robbed Thursday by a stranger while jogging in Manhattan’s Hudson River Park.
Police said the victim was walking at Pier 45 near West and Christopher Streets in the West Village just before 6:00 a.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and choked her until she passed out.
The attacker then stripped her of her clothes, raped her, and then fled the scene with her headphones, cell phone, and wallet.
The shaken victim was spotted by another jogger and first responders took her to a nearby hospital.
It’s the latest in rising crime in the Big Apple, prompting officials to deploy the controversial Strategic Response Group to crack down on violent crime.
