POINT CALUMET | A 39-year-old son has been accused of insulting the body of his late mother, who he allegedly left wrapped in a sheet at his home for several weeks.
“If you’re staying in a home with your dead mother, you must be crazy,” Diane Malette, a resident of Low-Income Housing (HLM) on Avenue Basile-Routhier in Pointe-Calumet, in the Laurentians, said yesterday of Louisette Bergeron’s body was found last Thursday.
According to our information, the body of the 64-year-old lady was discovered by the Deux-Montagnes police when a friend reported her missing.
Several tenants met at the scene by Le Journal had not seen Ms Bergeron since earlier in the year.
The late lady lay on the floor of her apartment, wrapped in a sheet where her son would have camouflaged her all along.
“A police officer told me that his son left the bedroom window open,” said Suzanne Paquin, another HLM resident.

Danic Laframboise was arrested at the spot where the sixty-year-old had been for more than a year.
The next day, the 30-year-old homeless man, who had allegedly taken advantage of his mother’s shelter, appeared at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse on charges of disregard of a corpse and violation of conditions.
The Department of Crimes Against the Person of Sûreté du Québec has since taken over the file.
Nothing confirms at the moment that the lady was killed, but prosecutors postponed the suspect’s appearance yesterday. She preferred to wait for “analytical feedback” beforehand.
The autopsy was to help determine whether further murder charges could be brought against Laframboise.
