Everything Everywhere All at Once will be the production with the best chance of winning gold statuettes next Oscar night. Closely followed by The Banshees of Inisherin by Martin McDonagh, which was cited nine times, as well as the German film All Quiet on the Western Front by Edward Berger, which, in addition to being nominated in the Best International Film category, was also shortlisted in eight other categories, including Best picture.

Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is in the running in eight categories (Austin Butler’s performance as King is particularly celebrated in the best actor category), and The Fabelmans, in which Steven Spielberg evokes his beginnings as a filmmaker, is named seven times.

It should be noted that the two most popular productions at the box office in 2022, Top Gun Maverick, cited six times, and Avatar: The Way of Water, selected in four categories, also perform well. They are primarily in the category of the best film in the race.

Also worth noting is the presence of The Flying Sailor, a National Film Board of Canada production directed by Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis, in the Best Animated Short Film category. It is the 77th appearance at the Oscars for the Canadian institution. Canadian Sarah Polley’s Women Talking was also selected in two prestigious categories: Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Also of note is the presence of Montreal native Adrien Morot, whose work on The Whale, which notably earned Brendan Fraser a nomination for Best Actor, will be highlighted in the Make-up and Hairstyle category.

Presented by Jimmy Kimmel, the 95th Academy Awards will be held on March 12th at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
