5 artists to see at the Igloofest

Tortured by the pandemic for two years, the igloo festival can finally take place on April 15e Edition, in the Old Port of Montreal. For the occasion, the electronic music event offers several new features, including après-ski nights, all taking place at different locations in Montreal. The Igloofête family component will also be presented on four Saturdays. But first and foremost, the Igloofest consists of 12 festive outdoor evenings with several DJs from here and elsewhere. The newspaper asked the event’s co-founder, Nicolas Cournoyer, to pick five artists not to be missed this year.

“It’s going to be great. He’s a French guy from the synthwave wave. I don’t know when he was last in Montreal. We can’t wait,” says Nicolas Cournoyer.

47-year-old Vincent Belorgey, real name, is best known for the opening song of the Ryan Gosling film Sang-froid (Drive). Shortly before his performance at the Igloo Festival, the audience is greeted by Dabeull (DJ set) and Heidy P.

“She is from Switzerland. I can’t wait to hear it. It’s a bit more into the more melodic nature of trancy house, which can be really cool. »

Daniela Niederer lives in Zurich, Switzerland but is of South African descent. She started making music in 2009 at the age of 32. Just ahead of her, at Igloofest, viewers are treated to EDX and Hicky & Kalo.

“He’s from the Hungry Music label. People from this group, like Joachim Pastor and N’to, have been coming to our events for a number of years. It’s super happy party music, it’s very festive. For me, it’s a date I look forward to. »

“He’s a Belgian rapper. We’ve been doing a rap and hip hop night or two for a couple of years because it’s very popular. Loud played with us before the pandemic. They are often placed on Thursday nights because they are looking for a different audience, a different niche. We had planned two such parties last year but had to cancel them because of Omicron. »

“He’s going to play last Friday. He never came to Igloofest. We’re paying for the 15th edition. Musically, we still cast a wide net. We weren’t going towards more EDM, more commercial music. But at the same time, we love him the people. It was the night that sold out the fastest. There’s a lot of demand for it.”
