2 Ethiopian Airlines pilots fall asleep in flight

The airline Ethiopian Airlines announced the suspension of the two pilots who are said to have fallen asleep while landing a flight from Khartoum (Sudan) to Addis Ababa. According to sources from The Aviation Herald portal, the pilots fell asleep during the flight and only woke up when an autopilot disconnect alarm was activated. The plane was able to land 25 minutes later.

“The crew in question have been suspended pending further investigation,” the airline said in a statement collected by Ethiopia’s state-run TV broadcaster Fana. “Appropriate corrective actions will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation. Safety has always been and always will be our first priority,” the airline added.
