1899: Netflix stops series, no season 2

Netflix decided Abort the series 1899which will therefore not get a second season, as the authors Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese announced on Instagram and other social channels.

The two to whom we owe the series darkalso streamed by Netflix, wrote a heartfelt post:

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce that 1899 will not be extended. We would have loved to have completed this incredible journey with a second and third season like we did with Dark, but sometimes things don’t go the way you planned. So life is . We know millions of fans will be disappointed. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of this amazing adventure. We love you. never forget that Bo & Jantie.”

So we will never know the end of the voyage from London to New York Kerberos, as we will never know what secrets the ship rescued at sea hides. The reasons for the cancellation have not been announced, but are conceivable (also because they are more or less always the same). It’s likely that 1899 wasn’t seen by enough subscribers to justify producing the second season.

1899 is certainly not the first series canceled by Netflix. How can we forget the fate of Sense8, which was killed after two seasons, The OA, which was also stopped after only two seasons, or the recent Resident Evil, which only survived one season? Of course it’s absurd to talk about the cancellation of successful series, because if they had been successful, they wouldn’t have been. That’s just how the world of TV shows works.
